This luxurious salve is pure magic in a pot! This ultimate formulation couldn’t have been achieved without extensive research, countless experiments, mindfulness practice and even lucid dreaming! I swear I didn’t have magic mushrooms, but I did burn incense sticks and prayed for Nature to unveil her mysteries to me… and she finally gave in.
Every single natural ingredient in this recipe had to earn its place though rigorous selection and, what was even more challenging, refinement of its ratios relative to the others. The result is a super-nourishing, yet light, easily absorbent salve that moisturises both the skin and hair, making them soft and silky-smooth by locking moisture in and creating a powerful barrier against the harsh, polluted environment. It doesn’t just work wonders on the skin and hair, but works wonderfully with the tissue, supporting its balance and regeneration.
There are studies on the effectiveness of raw shea butter for promoting skin cell regeneration and natural collagen production, due to its source of anti-inflammatory compounds such as cinnamate esters (yes, it is related to cinnamon, in case you’re wondering ;) ), highly beneficial stearic and oleic acids and vitamins A and E.
Raw cocoa butter has also been documented to have superior healing properties that accelerate the process of regeneration, which makes it a favourite for treating stretch marks, scars, and dry and itchy skin.
You may have heard the praises sung to extra virgin coconut oil for its effect on skin and hair, but you may not realise that what makes it particularly helpful in repairing tissue is its ability to penetrate deep into the cells, which allows triglycerides in the oil to attract protein molecules which are responsible for replenishing the collagen layer!
It’s Argan oil, however – the main ingredient of the salve – that steals the show with its amazing ability to moisturise while being easily-absorbed and non-greasy. The cold-pressed Argan oil, used in the formulation of the salve, comes from the kernel inside a fruit of an Argan tree in Morocco – a fruit so nutritious that goats climb this slow-growing tree just to eat it! This precious oil is jam-packed with vitamins A and E (think anti-oxidants), Oleic (Omega 9) and Linoleic (Omega 6) fatty acids, which make it perfect for moisturising nails, dry feet, hands, hair, lips and face.
And of course, the feel great salve wouldn’t be complete without pure natural beeswax. Not only does it seal the moisture in, alongside shea and cocoa butters, it is a miracle in its own right – it heals cuts, scrapes and bruises, conditions, soothes, repairs and protects skin, and acts as an antibacterial (studies suggest beeswax has an antibacterial action against staphylococcus, and may help heal fungal infections!)
As if the above constituents weren’t enough, there’s dear Neroli essential oil that gives the salve its heavenly scent that everyone seems to love. Apparently, it was both Dutchess Marie Antoinette’s and Napoleon Bonaparte’s favourite which they used every day. This is hardly surprising considering that neroli can act as an antidepressant, aphrodisiac, antiseptic, bactericidal, carminative, healing, regenerative, disinfectant, antispasmodic, deodorant, digestive, emollient, tranquillising and tonic substance!
If neroli was good enough to make it into the very first eau de cologne in the early 18th century, it’s only fair that it should be the essential part of the very first feel great salve! It’s even safe for babies :) The whole family can happily use it – as long as everyone promises to put it back in the same place ;) It even makes the perfect travel companion as it fulfils so many needs. Your life will never be the same once you try it – I guarantee it!
